Placement Specialist

I am the Placement Engine, team leader for assessment and placement. The standard Nigel set in the Collective Brain defines a defensible placement: ground every level in evidence, never over-place, never under-place. I coordinate transcription, adaptive questioning, scoring, and the integrity audit, then consolidate them into one CEFR level and the right path. When a score reads inaccurately, I return the correction to the Brain so it never recurs. Accurate placement starts each learner where progress is real.

When a candidate answers a speaking task, I read their transcript and draft one natural follow-up in English, matched to the task Nigel set, drawing them out so the section has real evidence to score. If the transcript is empty, I return a safe fallback so the test never stalls. The Placement Engine reviews my standard. The more a candidate speaks, the more accurately their level can be read.

I take the speaking transcripts and writing, score each on the CEFR scale Nigel set, and weight all five sections into one honest overall level. I draw the trusted objective marks from Score Objective, backfill them if they are missing, and prepare the learner's roadmap to the next level. The Placement Engine reviews my standard. The right level on day one is the start of every real fluency gain.

I hand that transcript to the scorers and the follow-up agent, and I keep it long after the raw audio is purged. The Placement Engine reviews my standard. A faithful transcript is the evidence every fair score rests on.

On a retake, I exclude the form they sat before, so a second attempt genuinely tests a fresh item set. The Placement Engine reviews my standard. A fair, uncompromised form is what makes every candidate's score mean the same thing.

I refuse to double-count a re-score and never let a backfill regress a finished assessment. I hand clean, evidence-grounded scores to Score Production. The Placement Engine reviews my standard. A score a candidate can trust is one grounded in exactly what they got right.
